Stephanie Williams is a Licensed Professional Counselor who works primarily with first responders and their families. She maintains a private practice in Edmond, Oklahoma.
With over 25 years experience in the mental health field, and as a graduate of the University of Central Oklahoma, she is currently serving as a private practitioner working with first responders throughout Oklahoma. Her areas of interest are trauma, grief and loss, ADHD, anxiety, depression, as well as family and job related issues specific to first responders. Stephanie works as a contract therapist for Concerns of Police Survivors (COPS), a national organization that provides support and counseling to co-workers and family members of fallen law enforcement officers. In addition she partners with the non-profit group, Warriors Rest Foundation assisting as a mental health professional for several peer support teams by offering counseling, education and support to first responders and their families.
Included in her practice is Han Solo, a therapy dog, in training. "Solo" is a 3-year-old yellow Labrador Retriever, who is working to become a certified therapy dog. He enjoys treats, fetching the morning paper, long walks, belly rubs, and more treats. His passionate greetings may be questionable, but it is his mission to ensure each client realize their importance and feel comfortable during their visit.
Stephanie is a solution-focused, trauma therapist. Her therapeutic approach includes providing support, practical feedback, education and when appropriate EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing), along with other modalities to help clients effectively address personal and professional life challenges. She integrates complementary methodologies and techniques to offer a highly personalized approach tailored to each client. With compassion and understanding, she works with each individual to help them build on their strengths and attain the personal growth they are committed to accomplishing.
